Our Purpose

The Tennessee School for the Deaf offers an individualized and comprehensive educational program. The school provides a total learning environment that utilizes state of the art curricula, materials and methods for the purpose of preparing students for adult life. Students are equipped academically, vocationally, physically, emotionally and morally to meet the daily challenges presented by society.

FLW Save The DateSAVE THE DATE! May 29-31, 2015 is TSD’s annual Family Learning Weekend. FLW is for all Tennessee families with children who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind or deaf with other disabilities, birth through 21 years old. Registration opens in mid-March 2015.  Get the details

The 23rd Annual Summer Institute for Educational Interpreters will be held June 8 - 11, 2015 at the Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville. This training is sponsored by the State Department of Education and the Tennessee School for the Deaf. The Institute is open to all interpreters. Information and a registration form. . .

The 2015 Run for the Deaf will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 8:00am. Find out about this year's run here. The RFTD is a part of the Spring Fling series of road races.
The Ninth Annual Spring Fling Road Race Series includes the Breakthrough Run for Autism and the Run for the Deaf. Participate in the series to receive reduced entry fees and to be eligible for cash prizes. Find out about this year's series here.
