Lady Vikings at the Mason-Dixon Tournament
by Coach Richard Davis
 | | Justine Webb, front row, 2nd from right, made the Mason-Dixon All Tournament Team | The Lady Vikings found themselves in Jackson, January 23 through January 27 for the thirty-first Mason-Dixon Girls Basketball Tournament. The Lady Vikings played two hard fought games. They lost the first game in a close 34 to 28 game against the Lady Bears of the North Carolina School for the Deaf. The Lady Vikings lost their second game against a strong Alabama School for the Deaf 56 to 29 thus eliminating them from the tournament. The highlight of the tournament for the Lady Vikings came during the last night as Justine Webb made the all tournament team. Justine played hard, and her hustle back on defense, her ability to switch playing positions, and her great attitude was well rewarded with this honor.
Next year the Lady Vikings will be heading to South Carolina for the thirty-second Mason-Dixon Girls Tournament. The girls will continue to work hard and try to improve and will continue to represent Tennessee within the same tradition that has been shown in the past.

On January 22,2008, Tennessee School for the Deaf left to participate in 31st Annual Girl’s Basketball Mason Dixon tournament. Seven players participated. Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind rode with us on the bus. We stopped halfway and spent the night at “The Hampton Inn”.
On the next morning, we left for Mississippi School for the Deaf and Blind. We drove, drove, and drove. It was a very long trip. Finally, we arrived at MSDB. Once we arrived, we learned that we would be rooming with Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind.
During the tournament, eleven different deaf schools came. We met all of them at a ceremony and social. We made some new friends. We had fun with them.
Our first game, we played against North Carolina School for the Deaf; we lost. Our score was 34-28. Our second game, we played against Alabama School for the Deaf, and we lost too. We tried our best! All of us had a great job trying.
After our second game, we had free throw and three-pointer competition. Tori Carver and Justine Webb competed for us in the free throw competition. They did well. Jessica Webb was our three-point competitor; she did even great! It was fun to watch the competition.
Georgia won the championship. After that, the award was announced. One player from Tennessee (Justine Webb) won “All Tournament Player”. We really had an awesome time at Mason Dixon.
