E-X-P-E-R-I-M-E-N-T. That was the winning spelling word for the second annual Elementary Spelling Bee held in February. Our winner this year in the closely matched competition was fourth grader Austin Gross. Second place winner in the fierce last word battle was Jessica Solomon, also a fourth grader. Third place went to a second grader, Athena Ellenberger. These students received prizes of dictionaries and word games. Thirty-four students from first to fifth grade competed by leveled reading groups.

Committee members Brandi Rood and Luke Benson were the masters of ceremony and Ginger Henderson interpreted for the crowd of parents, staff and friends that attended the competition. Many thanks go to Jeanne Fair and Dick Henley for the set-up and use of the Akin Gym.
