There was an error in the “Herschel Ward” story in the Nov. /Dec. 2007 issue of the Tennessee Observer. The end of the story should read as follows:

On October 11th, 1959 during the annual Homecoming events at TSD, there was a memorable service which was given by Dr. Lloyd W. Graunke, our superintendent and TSD’s faculty staff. Dr. Ethel A. Poore, our former superintendent, gave an impressive speech about Mr. Herschel R. Ward.

October 4th, 1975 was a historic occasion at the Tennessee School for the Deaf. At 10:00 a.m., a Dedication ceremony was held to rename the Main Building the Herschel R. Ward building to honor Mr. Herschel Ward who served the school for 40 years as a teacher, principal, and psychologist.
